It’s amazing how fast kids grow. I can’t believe Ellie was already 4 months old when we took these pictures! I was around for her mom Erin’s maternity pics and her newborn pics. I’m looking forward to seeing her grow up!

This is very exciting and one of the best things about being a wedding photographer. A couple of years ago I had the great fortune of photographing my good friend Molly’s wedding in Colorado. It was after her wedding that I made the decision to pursue wedding photography as my full time profession. Now Molly and Zeke have a new addition to their family that I get to take pictures of… Baby Jude!

I met Jenny and Dylan last year at Debbie and Brian‘s wedding… Last time I saw them Jenny’s hair was just a little longer and Dylan was just a few months old. They’ve made the move to St. Louis and decided to celebrate Dylan’s first trip around the sun with some new pictures to share.

I think this last photo was my favorite from the entire session. I have to give some special thanks to Grandma for helping out!

There are not many times in life when the whole family gets together… Graduation is one of those times. Delia just finished her masters at SIUE and with everyone in town and together to celebrate, Delia’s mom Cheryl thought this would be a great time to get some family photos taken. We got together one Sunday morning at the City Garden for the Howard Clan family pics.

I think Delia was flirting with me when I took this picture.

stories of autism { jack }

About a month ago I got and email from Charlie, the founder of Stories of Autism. Stories of Autism is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness to children and adults on the autism spectrum through photography and personal stories. Charlie asked me if I would be willing to donate some time to photograph someone in the St. Louis area. I agreed immediately.

The next day Charlie wrote to tell me about Jack. He put me in touch with his mother and we scheduled a time to take Jack’s picture.

I have never worked with a family dealing with autism before. I really had no idea what to expect. Was Jack going to hide from me? Was he going to scream? Was he going to throw things at me? Was he going to smile? I imagined the best and the worst.

Jack was playing in a small playroom off the kitchen. He was sitting on his toy box so I sat down on the floor across from him and snapped the first picture. As soon has he heard the click of the shutter, he got up up, walked over to me, and sat down right in my lap. He wanted to see the picture I just took on the back of the camera.

I was a better experience than the best experience I had imagined.

I am thrilled to be apart of this on going project!

Weekend Sneak Peek { St. Louis Photography }

I had three wonderful photo shoots this past weekend. There will more more posts to come for each shoot but it’ll have to wait until next week. Between taxes and heading to Louisiana for a wedding this Saturday, I wasn’t able get everything ready.

The first was Farrah and John’s engagement session. I typically don’t use many photos from the first 5 minutes of a session (everybody is still getting warmed up) but this one (I think it was the third click of the shutter) turned out really well. The rest of the session was awesome too, but I thought I’d “sneak peek” this one.

The second session was little Jack. I’ll write more about Jack later but I will say this, after I took the first picture of him he immediately sat down my lap to see the back of the camera.

Finally, I met up with Erin and Brandon to photography Ellie. I will admit, I was nervous. This was my first newborn session but Erin, Brandon, and Ellie were very patient with me as I “Forest Gumped” my way through it. This is one of my favorites because she actually smiled a little for about two seconds.

I met Rachel when she hired Fish Eye Fun instead of a photo booth for a Halloween party last year. She’s been following my work on the blog and on Facebook. After seeing Rev. Christal’s headshots she sent me a message asking me to take one of her. She works in real estate and wanted something a head shot that is little more fresh and fun than the typical “Sears portrait” that many agents get.

I hope she’s happy with what she got!

Saturday evening I had the absolute pleasure of photographing little Charlie and his mom and dad. I won’t post the rest of the sneak peek until they’ve seen their proofs (I like to be there when they see them) but I will post just one. He is such a cutie! I could photograph those big blues all day long!
